20 Fast Facts About PPC Agencies | WordStream

  1. In 2012, only 2% of agencies said their clients had decreased spend on Google AdWords, whereas 19% reduced their spending on Bing and Yahoo campaigns.

This does not suprises me. If the awhul conversion rate for bing will continue to be same for some next few monthes, I will also add to those 19 % and cut spending there at all, not just reduce. By the way, is there a something like overall statistic over accounts, or at least from your experience - is bing really several times (as in my case) worse for conversions in %, than Google?

MENA region's online population footprint increases to 72 million ...

The MENA region has recorded a remarkable 2500% increase in its internet users over the past 10 years, according to the latest research by Arabnet and Discover Digital Arabia. With 72 million internet users and a mobile penetration rate of virtually 100%, it is expected that there will also be a significant growth in online trading.

Mubasher Financial Services (MFS), one of the region?s top brokerage firms with subsidiaries in the UAE, Bahrain and associate companies in Egypt and Libya, is contributing to this trend by making online security a cornerstone of its award-winning trading platform.

Malek Kanawati, CEO of Mubasher, explained: ?The region has high internet penetration rates, but initially this did not automatically translate to high rates of online trading because many investors first needed reassurance about the security of online transactions. We are helping to bridge this gap by delivering the strongest possible security features. In the process we are not only raising confidence and interest in online trading, but also raising the bar in our industry.?

Malek Kanawati

A closer analysis of the latest figures reveals the convergence between mobile and internet usage, with the region shifting towards internet-enabled mobile devices. The penetration rates for such devices currently stand at 69% for Saudi Arabia, 58% for the UAE and 41% for Egypt. In addition, 34% of tablet owners have purchased applications and the demand is expected to grow.

Mr Kanawati added: ?Mubasher has been building on its rating as the ?Best Online Trading Platform? by developing versatile applications that are compatible with various smart devices. This gives investors maximum flexibility, facilitating real time access to their investments around the clock and around the world. Above all, it democratizes the trading process by making it more inclusive to ambitious investors across the region.??

Hoping to revive an ancient tongue, Pope tweets in Latin

1 hr.

Pope Benedict tweeted in Latin for the first time on Sunday, taking his mission to revive the Catholic Church's official language to a very 21st-century medium.

"Unitati christifidelium integre studentes quid iubet Dominus? Orare semper, iustitiam factitare, amare probitatem, humiles Secum ambulare," the pontiff wrote.

Baffled? So were many Twitter users. "Benny, nobody understands a word of Latin! #adviceforthepope" read one response on the online messaging service.

The pope's tweet meant: "What does the Lord command to those wholly eager for the unity of those following Christ? To always pray, to continually do justice, to love uprightness, to walk humbly with Him," according to University of Cambridge scholar Tamer Nawar.

The message was shorter and, arguably, more elegant in its original language ??one of the reasons why Latin-lovers want to conserve the tongue of ancient Rome, Pope Benedict foremost among them.

The Holy See, where even ATM bank machine transactions are available in Latin, is one of the last bastions of the language that gave rise to Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian.

In November the pope set up a new Vatican department charged with promoting the study and use of the language within the Roman Catholic Church and beyond.

Known for his traditionalist leanings, the 85-year old pontiff has also allowed a partial return of the old-style Latin Mass that was phased out more than four decades ago.

Once the international language of science and learning, Latin has declined in use among priests since the Church began allowing them to hold masses in vernacular languages in the mid 1960s.

To keep the language updated, Vatican produces a dictionary of modern words in the ancient tongue. "Inscriptio cursus electronici" is the vital word "email", while "brevissimae bracae femineae" means hotpants.

With just over 5,000 followers, the pope's Latin-language Twitter account is the smallest of his eight profiles, through which he communicates with more than 2 million followers in languages including Arabic and his native German.

However, Sunday's tweet was not actually the first instance of Latin used by the Pope on Twitter.

Benedict's Twitter handle "Pontifex" is a Latin word literally meaning "bridge-builder", an ancient title for high priest once held by the emperors of Rome.?

(AP) ? Alvin Gentry had a successful run with Steve Nash and the previous version of the Phoenix Suns, leading them to the 2010 Western Conference finals.

Gentry didn't mesh quite as well with the new bunch at Planet Orange and it cost him his job.

Unable to get a revamped roster headed in the right direction, Gentry and the last-place Suns agreed to part ways on Friday, ending the five-year run of one of the franchise's most popular coaches.

The team said an interim coach from within the organization is expected to be named in the next 24 to 48 hours.

"Alvin Gentry is a good coach and a good person," Suns vice president of basketball operations Lon Babby said from the US Airways Center. "He was the perfect coach for our previous group. But with the current group, all of us, including Alvin himself, realized that it just wasn't working, the pieces just weren't fitting."

Phoenix's head coach since Terry Porter was fired at the All-Star break in 2009, Gentry got the Suns back to the freewheeling ways of former coach Mike D'Antoni, his one-time boss.

Led by Nash, a two-time league MVP, the fast-paced style worked early on, with the Suns going 54-28 and reaching the Western Conference finals in Gentry's first full season as coach.

After that, Phoenix had mixed results, struggling to find a go-to scorer when power forward Amar'e Stoudemire turned down a deal to return to the desert and signed with the New York Knicks.

The Suns underwent a complete overhaul over the summer, when Nash went to the rival Los Angeles Lakers in a sign-and-trade deal, All-Star forward Grant Hill left for the Clippers and nine new players were added to the roster.

The new-look Suns struggled from the start and went into a deeper tailspin over the past month or so, losing 13 of 15 and four straight at home. Their 13-28 record is the worst in the Western Conference and leaves them 18? games behind the Los Angeles Clippers in the Pacific Division heading into Friday's games.

After a 98-94 loss to Milwaukee on Thursday night, one that ended the Bucks' 24-game losing streak in Phoenix, Gentry met with Babby and Suns managing partner Robert Sarver, coming to the conclusion that his tenure in the desert should end.

Gentry went 158-144 during his stint with the Suns.

"After nine years with the Suns, the organization and I came to a mutual agreement to go in different directions," Gentry said in a statement. "I have the utmost respect for Robert and what he's done with the organization. It's unfortunate that I was unable to accomplish what I set out to do here."

Gentry, who was in the final year of his contract, has been in coaching for three decades, including stints as head coach of the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat.

He came to the Suns as an assistant to D'Antoni and stayed on Porter's staff when D'Antoni left for the Knicks. Gentry was named interim coach when Porter was fired and stayed on as the permanent head coach.

He had some success with the up-tempo style D'Antoni had championed, but the Suns lacked a true scorer and struggled defensively, missing the playoffs the previous two seasons.

When Phoenix opted not to sign Nash with an eye toward rebuilding, Babby and general manager Lance Blanks blew up its roster. Gentry continuously tried new lineups to find a spark, but nothing seemed to work as crowds at the once boisterous US Airways Center started to dwindle.

Gentry recently said it might be better for the team to turn to its younger players and look toward the future, but now it will be without him at the helm.

"It wasn't that we weren't winning enough games so much as a feel that we weren't progressing, that we were regressing," Babby said. "We can't have that. We've got to have our closure moving forward. We didn't feel like we were moving forward and I don't think Alvin felt like we were moving forward."

The Suns don't play again until Wednesday, when they're at Sacramento.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? Police are investigating a sexual assault allegation involving 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree, authorities said Friday.

The alleged assault occurred in a San Francisco hotel room early Sunday, after the 49ers' playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers, police said in a written statement.

Crabtree has been interviewed with his attorney present and has cooperated with the probe, the statement said. The receiver hasn't been detained or arrested, and he agreed to be available for more questions in the future.

The probe is being handled by the department's special victims unit. When the investigation is done, the findings will be forwarded to the district attorney's office, which decides if charges should be filed.

Authorities didn't release any further details.

49ers General Manager Trent Baalke said the team is aware of the allegations.

"The 49ers take such matters very seriously," he said in a statement. "We will have no further comment at this time as the legal process is ongoing."

San Francisco is preparing to play the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC championship game on Sunday. The winner goes to the Super Bowl.

The 49ers said Crabtree made the trip to Atlanta. The team referred all other questions about the matter to Crabtree's attorney, who was not immediately identified.

This season, Crabtree became the first San Francisco wide receiver to log more than 1,000 yards in a season since Terrell Owens in 2003. He had a career-best 1,105 yards receiving, including a single-game high 172 yards on eight receptions in a win over Arizona.

In Saturday's NFC division matchup against the Packers, Crabtree caught two touchdown passes and wound up with nine receptions and 119 yards for the Niners (12-4-1).
