CHICAGO?

At the start of Memorial Day weekend, President Barack Obama launched a new outreach campaign, "Veterans and Military Families for Obama."

In the 2008 elections, Senator John McCain won the majority of the veteran vote.

In 2012, President Obama aims to get veterans back on his side.

The president hopes to highlight his support for U.S. military veterans, including voting for the post-9/11 GI bill and funding the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The campaign also points to his success in taking down Osama Bin Laden, and reducing troop deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Josh Prentice is an Iraq War veteran who considers himself a loyal Republican, but he says Obama could get his vote in November.

"He's impressed me with the way he led the drawdown in Iraq and in Afghanistan as well," said Prentice.

Meanwhile, CIA Director and former Commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan David Petraeus will be the Grand Marshal in Chicago's Memorial Day Parade, starting at 12:00 noon Saturday.

About 10 thousand people are expected to attend, as the march heads South on State Street from Lake to Van Buren.
