For many sports fans in Chicago, the end of summer means the return of the beloved Bears football team to the gridiron for another year of National Football League (NFL) action. With the continuing growth in popularity of the NFL, more fans are flocking to Canton, Ohio to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Over the last half-century, nearly 9 million fans have visited the museum, which is now in the middle of a massive renovation program that includes a state-of-the-art unified communication (UC) system.
The hall has grown significantly over 50 years and now encompasses 118,000 square feet hold more than 20,000 document and artifacts.
A new article from Baseline Magazine, profiles the "Future 50" expansion and renovation project. The inclusion of Wi-Fi, video-conferencing, collaboration tools and scalability to its communications system was done out of necessity.
Dave Motts, the VP of marketing and sponsorship was interviewed by Baseline about the project. He said that this renovation was as much about added space as it was about upgrading technology and keeping the staff ? which can get scattered across the facility ? connected.
"When we looked at the environment and the renovation, it was apparent that the previous telephony system was inadequate and there was no WiFi," said Mottsl. "As a management team, we said that things had to change. We were using a nine-year-old system with phones and equipment that were no longer being manufactured."
Motts went on to say that UC was a key part of the $27 million renovation plan. For any other company looking into renovations, communication options can be a smart investment. Many businesses can benefit from partnering with an IT consulting firm like CTI Technology to take advantage of new technology.
